|Aggregate Levy
On the 1st April 2002 the Government imposed the Aggregate Tax on the quarrying industry. The Aggregate Levy has been fought against by the British Aggregates Association.
The levy is applicable to almost all stone that leaves the quarry. It was chargeable at £1.60 per tonne. Following the 2007 budget it rose to £1.95 per ton.
April 2009: Aggregate Levy is now at £2.00 per ton.
